Dr Jiro Abe — Japan
Dr Jiro Abe graduated from Tokyo Dental College in 1981. He developed the suction mechanism of mandibular complete dentures in 1999 and published ”Successful Mandibular Complete Denture Suction for Everyone”. He was the director of the Academy of Clinical Dentistry from 1999 to 2005 and its consultant from 2005 to 2009. He founded the Japan Denture Association and has been its chairman since 2006. He is the lecturer of the Japan Dental Association as well as a professor at the Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry since 2008 and at Kanagawa Dental College since 2012.
Dr Abe has also held many distinguished positions over the years and published the book ”Mandibular Suction-Effective Denture and BPS – A Complete Guide: 4 Steps from Start to Finish”.
Dr Eduardo Mahn — Chile
DDS, DMD, PhD
Dr. Mahn is a graduate from the University of Chile. He received the German DDS in Münster, Westfalen Lippe one year later. In 2008, he published his doctorate thesis in 2008 titled “Osseointegration of zirconia implants, an in vivo study” and got his doctorate degree in 2010.
Between 2007 and 2009 he worked for Ivoclar Vivadent at the ICDE (International Centre for Dental Education), Schaan, Liechtenstein and he is presently a guest lecturer at several universities. He is the author of several articles and has been lecturing intensively about Aesthetic Dentistry and Implantology in more than 50 countries
Dr. Mahn is presently Director of Clinical Research and the Director of the Esthetic Dentistry Program at the Universidad de los Andes in Santiago, Chile. He also maintains a private practice (CIPO CLINIC) emphasising comprehensive implantology, prosthodontics and aesthetic dentistry.
Dr Kenneth Malament — USA
DDS, MScD (Prosthodontist)
Dr Malament received his D.D.S degree from N.Y.U. College of Dentistry and a Master’s Degree from Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry. He currently maintains a full-time private practice limited to prosthodontics in Boston, Massachusetts.
He is an Examining Director, Secretary-Treasurer and Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. Dr. Malament is a Clinical Professor at Tufts University in postgraduate prosthodontics. He holds Fellowships in the American College of Prosthodontics, Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics, Academy of Prosthodontics and Northeastern Gnathological Society.
Dr. Malament is an active member of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, and the Academy of Osseointegration.
He has been involved in the development and research of popular dental ceramics. Dr. Malament lectures nationally and internationally on various prosthodontic topics including dental ceramics, aesthetic dentistry and implant restorations.
Szabolcs Hant — Australia
Master Dental Technician, Ivoclar Vivadent Opinion Leader
Szabolcs Hant is a well-experienced dental ceramist and photographer.
He started his study in 1993 in Hungary, where he was lucky to meet and learn from great masters around Europe. Some well-known names from the courses he’s visited: Klaus Mütherties, Oliver Brix, Aki Yoshida, Robert Zubak.
In 2004, Szabolcs became a Hungarian Master Dental Technician, and in 2006 he established his own laboratory where he improved his ceramic skills and developed his dental photography knowledge. In Hungary, he was fortunate to work with talented dentists like Prof. Dr. Paul Gerloczy, Dr. Attila Bodrogi, Dr Janos Grosz and Dr. Ferenc Bartha.
In 2010, he moved to Perth, Australia with his family and started an exciting new life. Not long after he met Dr Tony Rotondo, Prosthodontist from Brisbane, and together they developed a highly successful photo communication protocol. Ivoclar Vivadent invited him to become the Hungarian opinion leader.
In recent years, Szabolcs has given lectures and hands-on courses on ceramic and dental photography topics and developed useful devices for dental photography.
Arnie Jabour — Australia
Technical Digital Specialist, Licensed BPS Laboratory Owner, Certified BPS Instructor and Certified SEMCD Clinical Instructor
Arnie Jabour has over 40 years’ experience in the dental industry, starting in the Royal Australian Navy as a dental assistant. He went on to manage dental clinics and the dental training school for the Royal Australian Navy. In 2007, he Graduated from TAFE NSW as a dental prosthetist and continues to practice privately.
Since joining Ivoclar Vivadent in 2001, Arnie has grown to love the prosthetic side of the business and derives a great deal of satisfaction from his job as the National Product Specialist in Removable Prosthetics. Working with Ivoclar Vivadent visiting clients and seeing them grow in their understanding of the benefits of quality removable and implant prosthetics is one of his passions. As Ivoclar Vivadent’s Product Specialist, he has introduced SEMCD Suction-Effective Mandibular Complete Dentures into Australia, where it has become one of the most important developments in retention and stability of lower dentures.
Stephen McGlynn — Australia
Stephen McGlynn is a registered Dental Prosthetist in practice for over 25 years. He is a certified BPS Laboratory owner and BPS Instructor, lecturing in Australia, New Zealand, India and Europe.
Stephen has memberships with the ADPA, OHPA, ITI and AOS. Previously a member of the Dental Technicians Registration Board, he now represents the industry as a member of the NSW Dental Council and chairperson of the Dental Technicians Education Accounts Committee.
With TAFE NSW, Stephen was instrumental in implementing and teaching the course “Implant Retained Overdentures”. Stephen has a passion for education, both on a personal level, as well as encouraging and developing further learning for other dental professionals within the industry.
Dr Mark Gervais — Australia
BDSc (Qld), GradDipClinDent, DCD (Melb), FICD
Dr Mark Gervais is a prosthodontist in private practice in Southport. He graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Queensland in 1990 and completed his Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry at the University of Melbourne in 2006. Mark has lectured in prosthodontics at three universities and is a clinical demonstrator and lecturer at the University of Queensland’s School of Dentistry.
He was the Director of Oral Health of the West Moreton Oral Health Unit for five years from 1998. Mark is a past-president of the Queensland branch of the Australian Prosthodontic Society and an active member of the Academy of Australian and New Zealand Prosthodontists.
Jim Ruddy — Australia

Jim Ruddy has over 25 years’ experience in the field of dental ceramics; both lecturing and teaching across Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
Jim was a trainer for three years in Germany and as part of his ongoing professional development he is certified every six months through the Ivoclar Vivadent ‘Train The Trainer’ (TTT) programme in Schaan, Liechtenstein.
Jim works very closely with ceramists and consults with some of Australia’s leading practitioners regarding materials and techniques.
Dr David Dunn — Australia
BDS (Hons) USYD; FRACDS; Pierre Fauchard Academy
After graduating in 1981 from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Honours, he has practiced the latest techniques in dentistry over the past 30 years, and frequently lectures both in Australia and overseas.
Dr Dunn was instrumental in the establishment of both the Osseointegration Society of New South Wales, being chairman of the inaugural committee, and later The Australasian Osseointegration Society. He has been a Senior Clinical Associate at the University of Sydney, Faculty of Dentistry and has also been a Faculty member for the teaching of the "Diploma in Implant Dentistry," University of Sydney.
Dr Dunn has lectured both nationally and internationally, including at The Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons 2000 Congress, The Australian Dental Association Congress, the Asian Pacific Dental Congress, New Zealand Dental Association Congress, Nobel Biocare World Conferences and numerous local programs. He also conducts mentor training programs to educate and improve the skills of dentists who are involved in dental implant therapy. Dr Dunn is a member of the international teaching faculty for the gIDE/ULCA Master Programme in Implant Dentistry.
Peter Anastasia — Australia
Dental Prosthetist – Dip.DT, AdvDip.DP
Having started in the dental industry as a Dental Technician in 1998, Peter built his experience and reputation over many years having operated a certified BPS® dental laboratory focusing on quality removable prosthetics, which serviced over 60 dentists and dental specialists from across Queensland and parts of Australia.
In 2010, Peter extended his qualifications from Dental Technician to Dental Prosthetist and upon graduation he was awarded the Karl Ring Award for Clinical Excellence. Peter is recognised as a certified BPS® clinician and is highly skilled in precision denture techniques.
His passion for continuing education has kept him at the forefront in the field of Dental Prosthetics. He has since travelled to Japan to study the teachings of Dr Jiro Abe and his suction-effective lower denture technique. He has also completed the Implant Overdenture course, Swiss Denture Concept course, the CQR Denture Technique course and has lectured locally as well as overseas on Occlusal Therapy for Edentulous Patients.
He is registered with the Dental Board of Australia and is a member of the Australian Dental Prosthetists’ Association.
Dr Jamie Foong — Australia

Dr Jamie Foong is a specialist Prosthodontist who works in private practice. He travelled to the University of Melbourne to complete his undergraduate dental degree and later returned to complete a specialist degree in Prosthodontics. Jamie has worked in specialist private practice in Melbourne CBD and has also established a private practice in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Australia.
Jamie has a keen interest in implant technology and ceramics. As part of his thesis for his doctorate, he investigated the mechanical properties of zirconia and titanium implant abutments. Jamie is involved in teaching at several Australian dental schools as a visiting lecturer and clinical supervisor.
Jamie is a member of the ITI, the Australian Dental Association, the Australian Prosthodontic Society and the Academy of Australian and New Zealand Prosthodontists.
Dr Terry Wong — Australia
B.Sc (Hons) Melb, B.D Sc Melb
Dr. Terry Wong lectures internationally on the topic of composite resin restorations.
Presently, Dr. Wong lectures at Melbourne University on the topic of Aesthetic Dentistry and conducts hands-on programmes about free-handed delivery of composite restorations.
He attended the Las Vegas Institute and studied occlusion at the Kois centre in Seattle.
He has personally been instructed by Dr. Newton Fahl of the Fahl School of Art and Science in Aesthetic Dentistry in Brazil. Dr. Wong obtained his degree at Melbourne University in 1987 and maintains a general practice in Melbourne with emphasis on restorative dentistry.
Dr Andrea Shepperson — New Zealand
Dr Andrea Shepperson is an internationally recognised clinician, thought leader and educator. One of Australasia’s best known dentists, she is a sought-after speaker. She has helped dentists globally with practical solutions to everyday problems. A practicing clinician, she understands the day-to-day challenges of general practice.
A Digital Smile Design Master and Instructor, an Honorary Life Member of the NZ Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, a founding Member of the American Academy of Oral and Systemic Health as well as a Mentor and Alumni of the internationally renowned Kois Center in Seattle, USA she is regarded as an innovator and visionary thinker. She founded the Dental Fingerprint, a risk assessment tool for clinicians.
Dr Shepperson studied dentistry at the University of Otago and currently practices in Auckland, New Zealand.
Dr Hani Naoum — New Zealand
Dr Hani Naoum graduated with Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Baghdad in 1994. After several years of general dental practice in New Zealand and internationally, he completed a Master of Dental Surgery in Endodontics from the University of Otago in 2001.
Dr Naoum enjoys all aspects of Endodontics and has a special interest in biomechanical cleaning and shaping of the root canal space, as well as treating dental trauma and tooth resorption.
Dr Naoum has lectured both nationally and internationally and authored various scientific research and review papers. Dr Naoum is a committee member of the NZ Society of Endodontics, Auckland and New Zealand Dental Associations, American Association of Endodontists, International Association of Dental Traumatology, Australia and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists, and Australasian Society of Implant Dentistry.
Dr Helen English — New Zealand
BDS MDS (Perio) FRACDS (Perio) – Periodontist
Dr Helen English completed her Masters in Periodontology with Distinction from the University of Otago in 2005, gaining her Royal Australasian College Fellowship that same year. She subsequently established Nelson Periodontics, the only private specialist periodontal and dental implant surgery practice in the top of the South Island.
Although full-time clinical practice is her primary interest, she maintains various research commitments and is a committee member of the Australian & New Zealand Academy of Periodontists and the New Zealand Society of Periodontology. She has lectured at numerous conferences including the International Academy of Periodontology, ANZAP, NZDHA, NZAO meetings and the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons Convocation - in addition to regular NZDA branch meeting presentations.
She was recently awarded a New Zealand Dental Research Foundation Grant to undertake specialist practice-based research into subgingival delivery devices for periodontitis lesions in conjunction with the University of Otago and the University of Zurich, Switzerland. She has a passion for learning, for educating her patients, and for sharing her knowledge with colleagues.
Mark James — New Zealand

Mark is a registered Dental Hygienist with over 25 years of varied and global clinical experience. He trained in the UK, has worked in diplomatic, military, hospital, general, specialist and community scenarios, as well as for Philips Sonicare as a Key Opinion Leader and as a trained clinical mentor.

Deb Pratt — New Zealand
Deb graduated from the School of Dental Hygiene at the University of Vermont (USA) in 1995. She began her career in dentistry in 1987, working both administratively and clinically as a chairside assistant. Deb has a passion for clinical dental hygiene, but mostly a strong desire to make dental visits stress-free and even… fun! She truly believes 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure'.Originally from the state of Vermont, Deb settled in New Zealand in 2004, calling Picton her new home. Over that decade she practised in both Blenheim and Nelson.
